Music gave Matt everything — a voice, a stage, a band, a family beyond his family. And he gave it back: for years he taught music to kids, ran lessons and summer camps and recitals, and made his students believe in themselves. The Matt Johnson Music Scholarship exists to keep that gift moving — supporting graduating seniors at Harris County High School, former HCHS students still pursuing music, and Matt's own former students.
The school is Harris County High in Hamilton, Georgia, where Matt and Jason met on the band hall floor. It's a program of the Matt Johnson Music Foundation Inc., a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit run by Matt's family — his parents, Tommy and Phyllis Johnson, steward it alongside his brother Adam Johnson, his sister Julie White, and brother-in-law Danny White, with a circle of the band's family and friends reviewing each year's submissions. Direct donations are tax-deductible.
There are three ways to help: donate directly, buy the music, or pick up merch. However you do it, it all lands in the same place — with a student who loves music the way Matt did.
